For longer trips to school when biking, walking or the use of buses is impractical, carpooling saves resources, protects the environment, and promotes community.  Many parents use their school directories to find other families to form carpools.

An easier route is to use iCarpool, an innovative web based program offered by Ride Arrangers (a function of Denver Regional Council of Governments). It links interested families within a specified distance of each other so that they can find ride partners. iCarpool uses trip matching software to find the best matches.  The system has the capacity to create a map for each participant showing where the closest school families live and their contact information.  It can also be set up to only allow family information to be exchanged between families in the process of forming a carpool.  In other words, your identifying information can be kept secure.

If your school participates in the program, you will be able to register a carpool request in the system. The schools that are currently participating in the program are:

BCSIS/High Peaks

Casey Middle School

Centennial Middle School

Community Montessori

Fairview High School

Horizons K-8

Manhattan  Middle School for the Arts and Academics

Nevin Platt and Platt Choice Middle Schools

New Vista High School

Southern Hills Middle School

Summit Middle Charter School

If your school is on this list, click on iCarpool for complete registration information.  You will also need to contact the school's main office to request the appropriate 'passcode' for your school.  That will allow you to register and request carpool trips within the system.

If your school is not listed, you may want to send an email to your school principal to let them know that this would be a helpful program to you and your family.  We will update the list of participating schools as more schools join in.
