A wide variety of literary works will be considered including poetry, short stories, essays, position papers and dramatic dialogue.
Foreign language submissions are encouraged. They must be accompanied by English translation. (Second language students may have all the help they need doing the translations.)
There is a 750 word maximum, but smaller pieces may have a greater chance of being included.
Black and white drawings, black and white photos and small, black and white graphics are also requested.
Works may not have been commercially published elsewhere.
District policy IGDB, Student Publications, will guide decisions regarding the inclusion of a submission in the event there is a question of its appropriateness.

BENEFITS:
The authors of four "Readers' Choice" selections (one each from K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12) and the two students whose black and white illustrations or photos are selected for the two covers will each receive an award of a $50 savings bond.
Students whose work is selected for inclusion will receive a copy of the publication.
Authors and artists retain all rights to their work.
The literary magazines will be copyrighted. Further duplication shall require permission of the individual contributor.
Each student whose work is selected and each BVSD school library will receive a copy of the publication. Assorted school constituents will receive copies. A limited number of additional copies will be made available for purchase.
