 Enrichment Competitions Reimbursement

The Office of Advanced Academic Services supports individuals and teams who are eligible to compete at the national or international competition level of those contests held and sponsored by BVSD at the district level as well as other qualifying academic or educational competitions. A team must become eligible for a national or international competition by qualifying at a regional or state level.

Competitions eligible for reimbursement are:
·         Academic Decathlon
·         DECA/Delta Epsilon Chi
·         Destination Imagination
·         INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair
·         National History Day

There is a maximum total reimbursement of $2500 for any team attending one of these competitions. Included in that amount is a cap of $1000 per team for competition registration and up to $200 per student or BVSD staff chaperone for airfare and lodging reimbursement. Please refer to the attached Reimbursement Application for National Academic or Educational Competitions for more information. Please fill out the form to receive reimbursement.

For activities not listed above, funding is not available at current funding levels.  In the rare and unanticipated event additional funding comes available for additional programs, any group not listed above is required to secure advance approval for reimbursement. Such approval must be obtained from the BVSD Advanced Academic Services Office or Institutional Equity Office prior to applying to the competition or contest.

If you have any questions, contact Jennifer.Barr@bvsd.org or call 303-447-5087.

Foreign language submissions are encouraged. They must be accompanied by English translation. (Second language students may have all the help they need doing the translations.)
There is a 750 word maximum, but smaller pieces may have a greater chance of being included.
Black and white drawings, black and white photos and small, black and white graphics are also requested.
Works may not have been commercially published elsewhere.
District policy IGDB, Student Publications, will guide decisions regarding the inclusion of a submission in the event there is a question of its appropriateness.

Students whose work is selected for inclusion will receive a copy of the publication.
