Early Access to Educational Services for Kindergarten and First Grade

This law does not provide early entrance to kindergarten and first grade.  It does, however, allow districts to receive funding for "highly advanced gifted" children if the district elects to follow the state outlined procedures. These procedures permit a select few students younger than the normal age requirements to enter into kindergarten and first grade.  In Boulder Valley, this is a study item for the BVSD Board of Education which will make a decision during the 2008-2009 school year regarding possible implementation for 2009-2010.  For more information, see the June 2008 Fast Facts published by the CDE http://www.cde.state.co.us/gt/download/pdf/FF_EarlyAccess.pdf
