SEBAT Services
In accordance with the requirements of OCR and IDEA 1997, students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities, have the right to be assessed in their stronger or more proficient language. Due to the high number of Spanish speakers in Boulder Valley, the school district has established the SEBAT to...
- Evaluate, in Spanish, children whose primary language is Spanish as part of a Special Education assessment. (The Special Education team at the child's home school is responsible for assessing the child's academic skills in English, for conducting the staffing, and for updating the child's physical health and physical motor needs.)
Assist the Special Education team of the child's home school with determining whether or not the child has Special Education needs.
Provide recommendations that would be beneficial in the educational programming for the child.
Services are made available to Boulder Valley Schools, private schools within Boulder Valley School District, Boulder County Head Start, and children ages 3-5 years who have been referred by the parent, the medical community or by their preschool teacher.
