Sixth Grade Choir
Sixth Grade Chorus is a beginning course designed for students with treble voices. The ensemble meets every other day.  Basic vocal techniques will be explored in a wide variety of musical styles, including introduction to part singing, music reading, and theory. Culminating performances are a meaningful and mandatory component of this class.

Yearlong Mixed Choir
Yearlong Choir is available to students in 7th, 8th, and the Choice program and meets every day all year long.  Mixed Choir continues two-part singing and introduces voices to three and four part singing. Fundamental vocal techniques will continually be reinforced. Culminating performances are a meaningful and mandatory component of this class.

Trimester Choir
The trimester choir is available to students in 7th, 8th, and the Choice program.  The ensemble meets every day for one trimester only.  Trimester Choir continues two part singing and introduces students to three and four part singing. Fundamental vocal techniques will continually be reinforced. Culminating performances are a meaningful and mandatory component of this class.

Show Choir
Show Choir is available to students in 7th, 8th and the Choice program.  Show Choir develops overall performance skills in the areas of choir, drama and dance. Vocal techniques are continually reinforced using two and three part song. Focus is also on choreography and acting skills. Culminating
performances are a meaningful and mandatory component of this class.
 
Music Composition
Students in 7th, 8th, and Choice can access this trimester elective.  Students meet in the music composition lab daily and compose music using programs such as PrintMusic and Sony Music Acid.

Sixth Grade Band is a course designed to help students continue developing music fundamentals.  Students in this group meet every other day.  The emphases in this course are instrumental technique, rhythmic security, and developing ensemble awareness.  Students will have an opportunity to perform a wide variety of repertoire.  Culminating performances are a meaningful and mandatory component of this class.

Seventh Grade Band is a continuation and expansion of the sixth grade curriculum.  Students in this course meet every day.  In addition to progressively more demanding large ensemble work, there is an increasing emphasis on ensemble awareness and individual musicianship.  Students will have an opportunity to perform a wide variety of repertoire and travel to several festivals.  Culminating performances are a meaningful and mandatory component of this class.

Eighth Grade Traditional/Choice Band is a continuation and expansion of the seventh grade curriculum.  Students in this course meet every day.  The emphases in this course are instrumental technique, an exploration of wind literature, music theory, and individual musicianship.  Students will have an opportunity to perform a wide variety of repertoire in both large and small ensemble formats and travel to several festivals.  Culminating performances are a meaningful and mandatory component of this class.

Choice Band is an ensemble made up of the sixth and seventh grade band students in the Choice program.  Eighth grade Choice students rehearse and perform with the 8th grade band.  Students in this course meet every day.  The curriculum in this course is a combination of the sixth and seventh grade band curricula.  Given the range in ability, there is a larger emphasis on individual development.  Culminating performances are a meaningful and mandatory component of this class.

Orchestra

Middle Level Orchestra 1 is a course that emphasizes a balance between technical development and performance skills. This course provides an introduction to orchestral literature, ensemble involvement, and a broader range of instrumentation. Public performances after school hours are an integral part of this course and are required.

Middle Level Orchestra 2
is a course including progressively more demanding literature for orchestra that encourages continued technical development, performance skills, and a broader range of instrumentation. Musicianship and performance skills are stressed within a stringed orchestra. Public performances after school hours are an integral part of this course and are required.

Middle Level Orchestra 3
is a course that emphasizes the development of soloist capability and ensemble skills along with advancing skill in performing orchestra repertoire. Public performances after school hours are an integral part of this course and are required.
