Math 2 S is designed as a continuation of Math 1 S. Number sense, probability and statistics, algebra, geometry, and measurement are studied in this course. Topics include working with exponents and non-perfect squares, solving linear two-step equations, surface area and volume formulas, reflections, translations, and rotations. M21 Math 3 (7th grade Honors)
Math 3 gives extensive review of the skills acquired in the course Math 2 and extends those skills in preparation for high school courses. Number sense, algebra, probability and statistics, geometry, and measurement are studied in this course. Topics include working with properties of real numbers to evaluate numeric expressions, understanding slope as a rate of change, using counting techniques to determine possible outcomes, and surface area of prisms.

The seventh grade science content is aligned with the curriculum standards for middle school science and is primarily focused on Life Science. Students will study classification, ecology, human body systems and botany. Students will explore the living world through the use of microscopes, dissections, experimentation, group projects, and field trips to local ecosystems. Students will have a variety of experiences in science, which includes hands-on experiments, labs, writing about science, and direct instruction.

Seventh Grade Language Arts focuses on the standards and benchmarks as outlined in the Middle School Language Arts Curriculum and the Boulder Valley Academic Content Standards for Language Arts. Seventh grade instruction will build upon the skills gained in sixth grade and will demand increased skills application, academic sophistication, and intellectual reasoning. Students will acquire and apply language arts skills in a variety of instructional settings with particular emphasis on reading and writing improvement. Students will prepare to take Colorado Student Assessment Program tests in language arts given in the spring.

World Geography 7 provides students with the tools and skills necessary to analyze and interpret the worldfrom a geographic perspective. The regions of the Eastern Hemisphere Africa, the European Union and Russia, Asia, and Oceania will be the focus of study. In conjunction with World Geography 6, students will develop an understanding of the physical and cultural processes that shape the earth and its people as well as an appreciation for our roles and responsibilities as world citizens.
