Hello, I'm Khara West a new assistant principal for Monarch K-8.
I am one of the new assistant principals this year. I am so excited to be a part of such a wonderful community. In my first week I have experienced, to no surprise, a wonderful staff as well as energized, friendly and very respectful students. What a great place to be!!!
I have taken the position that Becky Escamilla previously held as part time administrator. I will be here 3 days a week, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity to be included in such a professional and caring staff who keeps kids and their success first.
I believe strongly in the importance of relationships and these cannot happen unless we learn each other’s story. So to share a bit about myself; the last 3 years I was assistant principal at Eldorado K-8. Prior to Eldorado I was at Broomfield High School. There I was a math teacher, head softball coach and AP over 5 years. Before coming to Boulder Valley I was a high school math teacher and softball coach in Aurora Public Schools, Aurora Central and Hinkley High, and in Douglas County, Ponderosa High School for 6 years. I received my degree from the University of Nebraska ,attended on a softball scholarship, after graduating from Boulder High School.
Outside of the office I love spending time with my family. I am married (to a former Buff – making up for the brief loss of Boulder loyalty :-) and we have 2 wonderful girls (ages 4 & 5). Our hobbies are anything together with a preference of outdoors – but do a great job of accommodating this when the weather does not permit. We are both from large families and also include extended family time whenever possible.
I already feel that Monarch K-8 is a fantastic fit for me. This is greatly due to the warm welcome I have received from staff and students. Equally, I feel that Mr. Glaab’s philosophy that we are a place to be safe, to learn and to have fun is ideal.
I look forward to getting to know you and I thank you for the opportunity to get to know and spend time with your student(s). Please contact me at any time that you have a need
