Dear Foothill Community,
Welcome back to Foothill. I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. As a former BVSD teacher I can’t help but get excited at this time of year. I look forward to my first year as PTO President it is exciting to work with such a dedicated group of parents and teachers. This will be a great year filled with community events and services, student enrichment activities, and fundraising.
This year our Vice President, Heather Bush is organizing all of the volunteers. We would like to thank our parent community for being so generous with their time. One of the reasons Foothill Elementary is such an outstanding school is due to your support. For a list of all the ways the PTO uses volunteers please visit the newly updated Foothill website at or contact Heather at heather.bush@comcast.net.
We will be taking a different approach to fundraising this year. The emphasis will be on one major appeal as opposed to several smaller ones. There will be four times this year that you are asked to make a donation.
Parent Impact Weeks - September 10th – 21st.
This is the big one! The money raised during this two week time will fund whole school programs such as para educator support for increased playground safety, a music equipment upgrade, a literacy tutor, assemblies, staff professional development and classroom mini grants. Look for our new brochure in your student’s Friday Folder on September 7th.
Bingo Nights and Meet & Greet Nights
Bingo Nights and Meet & Greet Nights will be fundraisers for individual grade levels. These events will help teachers pay for equipment and supplies that directly benefit their grade level.
Book Fair
The library will hold a Scholastic book fair in the fall. The money raised will be used to update the library.
Please keep in mind the programs supported by the PTO are not part of the Foothill operating budget. With your support we can raise the necessary funds while reducing the number of times we ask you for money.
We would love to have more parent participation at PTO meetings this year. We need your ideas and energy in order to organize our 15 student enrichment activities, 13 community events, 9 services, and 4 fundraisers. The fall meetings will be held on August 29th, September 18, and October 16 from 6:00 to 7:30 in the school library. This year we will be hiring a para educator to watch and feed your children during the meetings. Please sign up in the office if you will need child care.
I look forward to seeing you this year.
