Eisenhower Elementary School is a wonderfully unique place to be!

The tradition of excellence coupled with a very child centered focus allows students to be successful, happy, and challenged.  Ours is a Caring Community and a community of learners…both young and old. 

Our neighborhood goes far beyond our attendance boundaries and we have families from around the world in our school. 

Our parent community is very engaged with the school and is very giving of their time, resources and suggestions. 

Our staff understands rigor and nurture and we are able to differentiate for student abilities very well. 

Our students are caring and willing to learn.  When you walk into our doors you will sense that Eisenhower is an engaging, fun place to be where learning is job one. 

Our focus is to help our students become both smart and wise and to see that the world is full of amazing things!

 Important Meeting!

Eisenhower Community Members,

I have been mentioning that Eisenhower has to develop three budget cut scenarios to turn into the district by March 12th.  We had to come up with  2.25, 5.25 and 8.25% cuts to our school budget.  The district revised the “buckets” we were able to cut from and the amount of the school cuts increased to a range of $36,663.00 to $134,429.00.  The entire staff has met and carefully gone over what we felt were the “best” scenarios in a very difficult situation.  We have come up with three plans and some alternatives.  I will present these plans to the PTA Executive Board which serves as our School Improvement Team on Wednesday night.  I will hold an Eisenhower community meeting to discuss our school’s cuts on Tuesday, March 9th from 6 until 7 in the library.  I will detail what we were able to deal with and what we were not able to touch.  I will also have a partial list of how these cuts will impact the operation of the school.  I will not have too much on specific district cuts and will not be able to discuss them in much detail. 

District level cuts will be announced at the school board meeting on the 9th.  I will not know all of those amounts until they have been shared with the board.

These are difficult financial times and tough decisions have to be made.  We are trying our best to keep our service to our students at the highest level possible.  Please join me on Tuesday, 3/9, to discuss our budget cuts and what they mean to the school.

Spring Conferences

Our sign up sheets for parent conferences are up in the hallway by the office.  If you would like a conference,  please come by and sign up.  The building is open from 7 until 6.

The new No TV Week is the 2nd week of MARCH, the 8th to the 12th, same dates, different month! :)  No TV Fun Logs will go home in the Friday Folders Friday, the 5th of March and extras will be on the library counter.  Homemade versions with parent signature, teacher & name are AOK.  Prizes include a library grab bag for all participants.  Two from every grade level will be chosen randomly for bigger prizes. 

LIBRARY BOOK SWAP MON. March 15th and Wed. the 17th DURING SPRING CONFERENCES.

Feel free to bring in your books you wish to swap early.  I will record the # and send home a reminder note before the Spring Book Swap.  What if you do not want to trade books?  That’s fine.  All paperbacks are $.50 and all hardbacks are $1.
 
Tar Smell
If your kids come home and say, “Eisenhower stinks!” they are right about today. The roofing tar smell was very strong today due to unfavorable winds blowing toward the building. I am sorry this has happened and hope it will be over soon. I spoke to the construction foreman and he said that tomorrow will be the last day for all of this. However, if it rains or snows, it will be delayed until later in the week. It will be over soon! Thank you all for your patience in this…I know it is wearing pretty thin in some cases. C. Serns
  
Bingo Cancelled!
Oh no!! The 5th grade bingo night, 3/18, is going to be canceled due to a variety of schedule conflicts that have come up. The 5th grade teachers will try to reschedule for a time later in the school year. Life will go on!! J C. Serns
