Teaching Experience
I have been a social worker with the Boulder Valley School District since 1979. During this time I have served in over 22 different schools and programs. For the last 15 years Crest View has been my home and the center of my professional effort. I especially enjoy working with elementary school students and their families as we first begin to address and answer the questions of why school is such a challenge for some of them. I am part of the Special Education spectrum of services and focus on the social and emotional needs of children.
I am a member of the honorary Academy of Certified Social Workers and in 2001 I was chosen to receive the Impact on Education Award given by the Foundation for Boulder Valley Schools.
Personal Note
Transforming the school environment into one of cooperation, compassion and peace has been a passion of mine. I have worked with my wonderful colleagues at Crest View for almost 15 years to create many conflict resolution, social skills training, anti-bias, anti-bullying and personal safety programs which have been seen as models of school response to violence and social change. I have been very proud to be a part of a neighborhood school which has represented the best of democratic inclusion, educational excellence and social responsibility.
