The EAGLE Marching Band has entertained the crowds at halftime of the football games all season and, in our own competitions, have scored well. We performed in the Colorado State Marching Band Quarterfinals for the second year in a row and finished 20th of the forty-six 4A bands in the State.
The Concert Band is in full swing preparing for the Christmas Concert on December 9 and then preparing for our various festivals along the front range. Our December Concert will feature our guests, the eighth grade band students from Aspen Creek K-8 and Broomfield Heights Middle School. The Concert Band's part of the program will conclude with Leroy Anderson's traditional "Sleigh Ride" which should put everyone in the Holiday Spirit.
The Jazz Band is preparing for their first concert of the year in the Auditorium on December 9. They have been working on a variety of tunes from a Jazz Standard ("Killer Joe") to more of a 50s bluesy song ("Bein' in this Jazz Band Blues") written by the students and Mr. Kreeger.
The "Eagle Winds" is an ensemble that is new to BHS this year. It is a Wind Ensemble that will feature the top players from the Concert Band and they will focus on much more difficult literature. This group will debut in the March Concert where we feature American Composers.
The PEP BAND will be firing it up for all of the home basketball games starting January 6. The group is open to any students that play a band instrument whether they are in the band officially or not! Many times it is a great way for students who can't fit BAND into their schedule to keep playing the typically POPS music at the Boys' and Girls' ball games.
