STUDENT SUCCESS

THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP YOUR STUDENT BE SUCCESSFUL:
Have them study their vocabulary daily/nightly for 10-15 minutes, even if you are in the car, or between activities.
Students almost always have homework.
It can range from simply studying to written assignments and oral presentations.
If your student does not have homework they should go to the website links listed on my website.
Have your student practice spelling the words when they are saying them, or have them write the words out several times to improve spelling.
Have your student do test and quiz corrections and ask to see them.
Students have frequent quizzes and tests…check with them to see when their next assessment is, they are definitely given these dates in class.
Ask your student if they are making up missing assignments from absences, this often causes grades to go down.
Students should make appointments with me to make sure their assignments are turned in, and to make up any other assignments.
Make up work policy is on the Course Outline.
Each student should have a Spanish/English dictionary.
I recommend the brand LAROUSSE which can be found at most major bookstores and online.
The Pocket and Concise Editions.
Not pocket sized.
Have your student watch TV or movies in Spanish, listen to the radio in Spanish, and /or read children’s books in Spanish.
Many DVDs nowadays can be set to Spanish and can have Spanish subtitles.
It’s great if you can put both the audio and the subtitles in Spanish.
ALSO, go over the course outline with your student so that it is clear how the grading scale works, etc.
There are free tutors in the Ozone (first come, first serve), but you can also get a tutor for your student if you’d like.
*Ozone is still being set up for the 2009-2010 school year.
We will keep you posted.
Retakes-Is your student taking advantage of the retake/redo opportunities?
Please see the course outline for my policy.
