K-Care

Welcome to K-Care

Aspen Creek K-CARE employs a constructivist approach that uses long-term projects or investigations as vehicles for learning.  It involves an emergent-based curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and supports learning based on the children’s interests and curiosities. Children are dynamic learners, able to set goals, develop specific objectives, and use strategies and theories that are emblematic of intentional learning. This form of curriculum is characterized by real-life problem-solving and allows for numerous opportunities of creative thinking and exploration.  The DAP approach employs developmental assessments that are ongoing, evaluating and offering an opportunity for teaches to observe, analyze, and hypothesize what a student is capable of, which provides aid in designing instructional strategies that engages, challenges, and excites their students. DAP developmental assessments can help determine whether the process of learning is genuine, offering insight and evidence of student comprehension.

 Jaclyn Workman

My name is Jaclyn Workman and I am very excited to be a part of KCARE at Aspen Creek.  I am originally from California, where I received my Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from University California, Santa Barbara.  I recently earned my Masters' Degree in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from the University of Colorado, Denver.  My teaching experience has included working with students at the pre-K, Kindergarten and elementary school levels, providing individual, small group, and whole class instruction.  I strive to accommodate diverse learning styles by designing age appropriate curriculum and employing a variety of teaching strategies that emphasize the “whole child."  I live in Boulder with my husband.  We love to trail run, hike, snowboard, sail, and travel to California and Florida where our families live!

 Faith Halverson-Ramos

Faith Halverson-Ramos comes to the K-Care program at Aspen Creek as a psychotherapist and Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC). She has had professional experience working with a wide age range, including young children with developmental disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Fragile X syndrome, as well as with children with ADHD. She has provided music therapy to adolescents from diverse backgrounds who had experienced abuse and neglect in their homes, and she has also worked with elderly adults receiving hospice care.
Prior to moving to Colorado in 2004, Faith taught Kindergarten and English as a Foreign Language in South Korea. She now looks forward to using her talents and skills as a therapist, musician, and teacher at Aspen Creek K-8.
