Preschool Program
Pioneer Preschool starts four year olds in the bilingual program. The classroom is staffed by a certified teacher and an experienced assistant, who use the Creative Curriculum to provide the early learning foundations important for later academic success.
Children go to school four half-days per week. Both sessions are dual language (Spanish/English), with a balance of students whose first language is Spanish and whose first language is English. Class size is limited to 15 students and includes children who are enrolled as tuition paying students as well as those supported through funding of the BVSD Colorado Preschool Program (CPP), or Special Education.
Tuition placements are through the Open Enrollment lottery. All preschool placements ensure acceptance into Pioneer Elementary. For more information please call the Pioneer Office at 303-666-4971.
Instrumental Music for Fifth Graders
Learning to play a musical instrument is considered to be part of the fifth grade curriculum. Instruments can be rented at a reasonable monthly price from local businesses. More details will be sent home to fifth grade parents.
Talented and Gifted
Colorado State Education Department defines gifted as "those persons between the ages of 5 and 21 whose abilities, talents and potential for accomplishment are so outstanding that they require special provisions to meet their educational needs." The Talented and Gifted program at Pioneer is designed to identify those children by various means according to Boulder Valley School District policies. The program also provides support for teachers using differentiated instruction so as to meet the various needs of all students in the classroom on a daily basis. TAG also provides special programs designed to promote the specific strengths of different students.
Special Education
We believe in an inclusion model at EBP. Our bilingual special education staff work closely with classroom teachers to provide with the support necessary to be successful.
