Open enrollment is an option in the Boulder Valley School District. Under this procedure families may apply to a school other than the one in their home attendance area.
Escuela Bilingüe Pioneer is a Boulder Valley School District Focus School which is open to all students in the district. A lottery is used to determine acceptance.
Beginning Fall 2008, Kindergarten at Pioneer will be a full day: 8am-2:30pm.
Younger siblings of children currently enrolled (and who will be enrolled when the sibling enters school) are given priority. Priority is also given based on Geographic Area. This applies to applicants who reside within the attendance boundries of any of the Lafayette schools. Priority may also be given to children by gender and native language to maintain an equal gender and language ratio.
The enrollment goal is to achieve classes of 25 children and to maintain a ratio of fifty percent native Spanish-speaking and fifty percent native English-speaking students. Native English-speaking students are encouraged to enroll in the earlier grades. However, they may enroll through second grade; third grade on a case by case basis. Native English-speaking students entering in fourth or fifth grade must have prior Spanish instruction.
