Attendance Policy
Monarch High School remains a closed campus environment. Juniors and Seniors earning an off-campus pass will be permitted to leave for lunch and off-periods only. An off-campus pass does not allow for missing scheduled classes. Freshmen, sophomores and students without an off-campus pass will not be released for lunch.
If your student will be absent for the day, please leave a message on the attendance line. Any student who has an unverified absence during the day, may receive an autodialer message that same evening at which time, parents have 24 hours to excuse their student’s absence. After 24 hours the absence remains unexcused and may only be changed by an administrator. A parent MAY NOT excuse any absence due to a student leaving campus without permission or if the student is elsewhere in the building and not in his/her scheduled class.
If your student needs to leave campus during the school day for medical attention or urgent business, prior permission is necessary. Parents may call the attendance line or come in person to sign their student out. We do not accept notes. Students will need to pick up their permission to leave pass at the attendance window, sign out, and upon returning, sign back in.
We are not able to deliver passes or messages to students unless the situation is deemed an emergency. Student messages are put on the all-school announcement screen and students can check at the attendance office for their message.
If a student is feeling ill, they must get a pass from their teacher and come to the health room. We will have them contact a parent and have a parent pick them up or obtain permission for the student to drive home.
Students who expect to be absent from school for 3 or more days, must pre-arrange the absence. The student must pick up a prearranged absence form from the attendance office, make homework arrangements with teachers and obtain teacher and parent signatures. The student then receives a signature from an administrator and turns the form in to the attendance office prior to his/her absence in order to have the absence excused. If this absence is during semester finals, administrative approval is required.
