PTA Introduction
The 2009-2010 school year is upon us! The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Lafayette Elementary strives to build a strong partnership between faculty and families by providing diverse opportunities of involvement. The PTA assists LES in reaching its highest potential by providing financial support, parent volunteers, and community support activities.

PTA's success depends on you! We count on your support financially and through volunteer opportunities. This support sponsors various educational experiences and materials not allocated in the school budget. Examples of what your contributions have supported and financed are: school assemblies, field trips, 5th grade outdoor education, Destination Imagination, and Family Nights. These enhancements are because of you and your continued commitment to the future of our children.

Benefits of Being a PTA Member
The simplest way to support the school PTA is through membership. PTA membership costs $7.00 and needs to be renewed annually. Membership doesn't commit you to volunteering, though volunteering is important to the community.  Additional benefits inlcude:

  • Students have higher grades and test scores, better attendance, and higher graduation rates when their parents are involved. The more extensive the involvement, the higher the achievement.
  • When parents are involved, students achieve more, regardless of factors like economic status, background, or parents’ education levels.
  •  Students with involved parents exhibit more positive attitudes and behaviors, and negative behaviors decrease.
  •  Your PTA membership helps level the playing field for all children and helps prevent children from engaging in risky behaviors.
  • You receive valuable discounts and promotions from:
    • Association Insurance Management (AIM)
    •  Barnes and Noble: Discounted online bookstore
    • FedEx Kinko’s: Save 25% on all products and services
    • Global Publishing and Marketing: Custom-printed calendars
    • S & S Worldwide: Products for education, crafts, recreation, and therapy

Please contact Patty Vertun, Membership Coordinator, with any questions -  (303) 926-7400 .
