Fairview Marching Knights

Congratulations to the Fairview Marching Knights on a 4th place finish at the 2009 State Marching Band Competition.  GO FMK.

Fairview's marching program is supported by a host of professional marching band instructors, as well as parent volunteers. In 2009, The Fairview Marching Band placed fourth in the state marching band competition and third in the Metro Regional Competition.  In addition, they received the most improved band award at the 2009 Metro Regional Competition. In 2007, Fairview was 7th in the state 5A competition. In 2006, the Fairview Marching Band placed fourth in the state marching band competition, and first in the Northern Regional competition.  Marching students are required to spend time outside of school preparing for marching competitions. During the marching season, students spend about 300 hours outside of regular school hours practicing for competitions.

Competitions and Trips
FMK usually competes in 5 competitions during the Fall and performs at every home football game. The competitions take place mid-September to late October. The marching band goes to Disney World once every four years and on a shorter trip every two years. The band went to Disney World in December of 2006 and anticipates returning to Disney World in December 2010.   FMK also marches in the Lights of December Parade in Boulder every year.

Color Guard

The Color Guard is the Visual Performance part of the marching band. The marching season is from August through October and during this time you are enrolled in Color Guard class and attend practice 3 times a week to prepare for competitions. The color guard performs with the marching band at all of the home football games and they compete in at least 5 competitions that end with the State Marching Championship. If you are an incoming freshman, being in the band is a great way to meet other FHS students before school even begins!!! If you are interested in PERFORMING, MUSIC, DANCE, SPINNING FLAGS and/or OTHER OBJECTS, Color Guard is for you!

 Parent Volunteers

The FMK program cannot be successful without parental involvement and help.  We call ourselves, FBBO, the Fairview Band Boosters Organization.
