The Boulder Valley School District requires that a minimum of 220 credit hours be earned in grades 9-12. The following credit hours must be earned in the areas listed below for the graduating classes of 2007-2009:
- Language Arts: 40 credits total
- 10 credits, Freshman Language arts
- 10 credits, World Literature and Composition
- 10 credits, American Literature and Composition
- 5 credits, Communications courses
- 5 credits, Elective English courses
- Social Studies: 30 credits total
- 5 credits, World Geography
- 5 credits, U. S. Government
- 10 credits, U. S. History / American Studies
- 10 credits, World History
- Mathematics: 20 credits total
- Science: 20 credits total
- Physical Education: 15 credits total - Freshman Fitness required, fulfills 5 credits
- Health: 5 credits total in grades 11-12 - Sophomore PIB Fit-for-Life fulfills 5/PE, 5/Health
- Practical Arts: 5 credits total - (Business, Computers, Life Management, Ind. Tec., Stagecraft)
- Humanities: 10 credits total - (Music, Art, Foreign Language Level 3 or above)
- Additional credits (any approved courses): 75 credits total
TOTAL: 220 credit hours in grades 9-12, 100 of which must be earned in grades 11-12.
