School Information

A quick overview of what is happening by our Principal:

I am excited about this “re-do” of the school because it will update and freshen several portions of the building. It is hoped that this will all be done by the start of the 2010-2011 school year.

What will be happening you ask!!?? The scope of work is as follows:

• The center special education classrooms will be redone into what is called small group flex areas. This will include rooms for groups of kids to work and perhaps better conference areas.

• The special education classrooms will be moved to a special education suite to be built on the northwest corner of the school.

• The kindergarten rooms will be expanded and refurbished.

• The office area will be redone to make it so there is easier access and more space. The principal’s sauna will not be included in this go around!

• There will be some increased storage space in conjunction with the special education addition.

• Some finish work on the interior of the building (such as redoing some of the tile floors) is being considered.

• The irrigation system of the playground will be updated. Many of the paved surfaces on the playground will be redone. Some of the old toys may be removed because of age or meeting current safety codes.

• The entire building will get a sprinkler system to address fire safety.

• We will be getting fiber optic connections to greatly increase our band width capacity.

• We are looking into moving the library into the new special education area and then having all of our intervention and student assistance programs in the center of the building. This is just an idea at the time.

• We are also working hard to get the fascia of the entire building redone.

All of this will be done with student, staff and community safety as job one. There will be frequent and timely updates to you all about our schedules, progress and any changes we may need to make.
