Chess classes are offered after school through the Boulder Chess Academy. Eisenhower participates in the Boulder Valley Chess League.

| English as a Second Language (ESL) |
Eisenhower is fortunate to be an ESL "satellite" school. Students whose neighborhood school does not offer ESL instruction may attend the nearest "satellite" school if they qualify for ESL services.
Eisenhower is a district center school for ESL learners. We are proud of the linguistic diversity of the school and proud of the success our students have in becoming English speakers. Second language learners are assessed for language skill and appropriate program placements are made. Classroom teachers also provide support for second language learners. Our ESL program is taught in English and is not a bilingual program. For more information, contact the school. |

| Flag Football Club |

| Fun & Fitness Day |

Each spring the students raise money for our school by running as many laps as they can during a 30 minute time, join us for a great tune up for the Bolder Boulder! |

| Geography Bee |
Eisenhower participates in the National Geographic Geography Bee, which is open to 4th and 5th graders. The classroom finalists participate in the school Geography Bee, held in December or early January. |

Fifth grade students work with strings, brass and woodwinds twice each week during the school day. Instrument rental is available. Concerts are performed for parents in the Fall and in the Spring. |

| Literacy Program |
Eisenhower's Literacy Program supplements the regular classroom instruction to best meet the reading and writing needs of all students at Eisenhower. The goal of the Literacy Program is to ultimately have children read on grade level. In order to work toward that goal, early assessments and interventions are stressed. |

| Math Intervention |
The PTA has provided the school funds to hire a math interventionist. The person works with students needing math skill development. Emphasis is in the development of number sense and problem solving |

| Math Olympiads |
After school problem solving group for grades 3-5, the practices for the 5 Math Olympiad contests. Practice problems are also available to students as in-class math enrichement, with contest taken during lunch recess.

Students who read, or are read to, for 1,000 minutes in the month of April get a party in may. |

| Science Fair |
For grades K - 5, science fair is non-competitive, to encourage students' interest in science, develop inquiry and investigation skills, and enhance pride in completing research projects. Information about Science Fair is sent home with all students in the fall. In January there will be after school help sessions. The Science Fair is held in early February. |

| Spaghetti Dinner |
A delicious, annual fundraiser at which the teachers act as wait staff and the principal is the maitre de for a pasta dinner. |

| Special Education |
Eisenhower's students are supported by the Special Education staff which includes resource teachers, a speech therapist, occupational and motor therapists, and social workers. A school psychologist and other district personnel are available to us as needed. |

| Spelling Bee |
An opportunity for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students to demonstrate spelling ability at the school level of the National Spelling Bee, held in January or February. The school spelling champion represents Eisenhower at the regional Spelling Bee. |

| Student Council |
We have a very active student council from raising money for UNICEF to planning and presenting the World Fair, they are a busy bunch!
The Eisenhower Student Council has members from 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. Each classroom selects a representative and alternate. Meetings are usually twice a month before school.
The Student Council is the student voice to the principal for school concerns. |
