 Columbine PTA

Columbine has an active parent organization with over 20 parents consistently attending our monthly PTA meetings.

Instead of having a SIT and PTA, ours is a bit of a hybrid. The Design Team, a staff group responsible for setting achievement and curriculum goals, meets monthly and brings key items related to school improvment to the table. The first part of each PTA meeting is devoted to the principal sharing these items with parents. Where necessary, input and voting takes place. The remainder of the meeting is spent planning school events.

The PTA generally meets the Second Monday of the Month @6:30 PM in the Art Room. A complete meeting schedule can be found below. Translation and childcare is provided at every meeting.

 Fundraising

The PTA plans both one-time and on-going fundraising activities.  The majority of the monies raised from these efforts is allocated to our classroom grant fund.  The classroom grant fund is a program that assigns each classroom a budget to use on materials and activities.  We also use the funds to sponsor other enriching activities for the students such as assemblies, outdoor education and school improvments.  Below is a list of our major fundraising activities:

On-Going Fundraising:

  • Tamale Sales
  • Target and Escrip
  • Boxtops for Education
  • Notecard sales
  • Donations

Major Fundraising Events:

  • Fall Carnival (food, craft booths, games, performances)
  • Spring Raffle ($3 tickets - great prizes)
  • Check out the raffle prize list HERE
Welcome (Back) Columbine Parents!!!

The officers of the Columbine PTA (Parent Teacher Association) would like to take a few moments to
introduce ourselves, explain the purpose of the PTA and encourage you to become involved with this
important action group.

The Columbine PTA is a volunteer based group comprised of Parents, Teachers/Staff and Community Members. We meet once a month (the second Monday of the month at 6:30 pm) to organize fundraisers, plan extra-curricular activities, host workshops and of course to find out what is happening in our school, our district and our community.  Some of the fundraisers that have been successful in the past are the School Carnival, Santa Shop (which we started last year) Spring Raffle and book fair. The "funds" that the PTA raises goes directly to our classrooms for supplies, field trips and staff appreciation gifts (just to name a few!)  The extra-curricular activities we organize are an amazing opportunity to get to know the Columbine Community. Events like the Mile Marathon, the Fiesta Night and the Talent Show take a lot of time and energy and if each of us participated in the planning then the events will be even more memorable.

There are many other ways that you can contribute to our community. If you shop at Grand Rabbit's Toy Shoppe you can let them know that you would like to participate in the School program and a portion of your total sales will go towards Columbine. You can also participate in the Box Top program and Escrip (there are separate forms in this packet that describe both of those programs). When you shop at Target and use your Target Charge Card you can also request that the proceeds go directly to Columbine Elementary.  It doesn't cost you any extra money to participate in any of these programs and Columbine receives a nice check in return.

Our community relies on each member for their knowledge, their ideas and their passion. The educational experience and sense of belonging to a community is enhanced when every member is involved. We also encourage you to become directly involved in your child's classroom as a volunteer. Look for the Volunteer Sign Up Form and get involved in our children's future.
