Greetings Columbine Families!

The strength of Columbine Elementary is in the special community we have created here, and parents are the backbone of that community. At Columbine, we have a very active parent organization committed to making our school the best it can be for all our children.

Through the PTA, parents, teachers, and staff work together to enrich the experiences of our children.  The PTA is really each and every one of us!

Read on to learn more.

MISSION

Our PTA's mission is to enrich our children’s school experience and to strengthen the bond between the families, teachers and staff within the Columbine community.  ‭(Hidden)‬ Columbine PTA ‭[1]‬

Columbine has an active parent organization with over 20 parents consistently attending our monthly PTA meetings.

The first part of each PTA meeting is devoted to the principal sharing important items with parents. Where necessary, input and voting takes place. The remainder of the meeting is spent hearing from committees (SIT, DAC ,DPC, Fundraising) and planning school events. We also try to have a hands-on task to keep us occupied during the meeting.

The PTA generally meets the Second Monday of the Month @6:30 PM in the Art Room. A complete meeting schedule can be found below. Translation and childcare is provided at every meeting.

PTA proudly supports our parent involvement group at Columbine, TODOS.  TODOS stands for Together Our Differences Offer Solutions..it also means ALL in Spanish.  TODOS hosts guest speakers on important parenting topics, conducts fun activities and provides community service projects for those in need.  Check out the latest TODOS events on the right.

Welcome (Back) Columbine Parents!!!   Bienvenidos Padres!

Welcome back from the Columbine Parent Teacher Association (PTA)!

Your PTA's mission is to enrich our childrens' school experience and to strengthen the bond between the families, teachers and staff within the Columbine community. We strive to accomplish this mission by organizing volunteers to support classroom and school projects,  planning festivals and community events, and raising money to support extra-curricular activities.

This year we have an exciting opportunity to participate in the process of creating a vision for the new building and programs planned for Columbine. An active Columbine PTA could represent school families in the districts “visioning” process, which will consider both facilities and programmatic changes at our school.  Come share your vision of our new school!

Some past PTA sponsored events include the annual mile marathon, carnival night,  all-school raffle, book fair, and fiesta night. These events (and others) are made possible by PTA volunteers.

Less visible (but no less important) is the work we do to support Columbine teachers and staff through the school improvement process and our involvement with the Boulder Valley School district in the annual school review process.

Other programs we are considering  include expanding the after-school soccer program to include lower grades, and continuing to develop our garden/harvest program so our children can grow some of the food they eat.  We look forward to additional suggestions!

Please plan to attend our first meeting on Monday Sept. 8th at 6:30 in the Columbine Art room -- This is a great opportunity to find out what is happening in your school community, get involved and make a difference in your child's education.

All meetings are bi-lingual and childcare will be provided.
