Prerequisite: Enrollment in the BVSD Teen Parent Program
All teen parents are expected to enroll in a Teen Parent Program or Family & Consumer Science course each semester to maintain their eligibility status in the Teen Parent Program, while working toward a program completion goal. This semester covers topics including self-understanding, health, food and nutrition, parenting and child development with an emphasis on infant and toddler health and safety.
H53 Life Management 2

All teen parents are expected to enroll in a Teen Parent Program or Family & Consumer Science course each semester to maintain their eligibility status in the Teen Parent Program while working toward a program completion goal. This course provides practical skills for teen parents to become self-sufficient, economically independent, and employable in today’s changing world, while also managing self and family responsibilities. Topics include: relationships, housing, personal finance, parenting, communications, health, food and nutrition.

Prerequisite: Enrollment in Teen Parent Program or Instructor Approval
For students enrolled in Teen Parent Program, this semester course includes a planned sequence of paid or unpaid work related experiences related to development of employability and entry level job skills. This course may be taken more than once. Non-teen parents may also gain course credit by assisting with the care of children in the nurseries during any period of a school day. Non-teen parents must be sixteen years old and pre-approved by the nursery manager and the TPP coordinator.

Prerequisite: Enrollment in Teen Parent Program
For students enrolled in Teen Parent Program, this semester course includes a planned sequence of work and community based experiences leading to the acquisition of entry-level job specific skills. All teen parents that have successfully completed one year of Life Management or LOYO are requested to enroll in this class. Students will guest speak at middle and high school health classes about “Life as a Teen Parent”. Students will also plan teen parent fieldtrips and activities for the children in the Nursery Learning Centers. This class may be taken more than once.
C95 GED Preparation
Level: 11-12
Offered: 1 or 2 semesters, variable credits
Prerequisite: Enrollment in Teen Parent Program, Instructor Approval
Students will develop skills and knowledge in preparation for taking the General Education Development examination. Preparation in the G.E.D. five-subject categories include: Writing Skills, Literature and the Arts, Science, Math, Social Studies, Students will work in an individualized, self-paced environment, with bilingual (Spanish) support as necessary. To receive credit for this course, a student must be concurrently enrolled in the Teen Parent Program. For every 18 hours of participation, a student will receive 1 semester credit. Students must register at an official G.E.D. test site to take the G.E.D. examination.
