Awesomeland (Period 3, Group 5)

Bill of Rights

Bill of Rights for “Awesomeland”

Civilians are not allowed to own any weapons. Only government officials or military personnel may carry weapons.

The government may not interfere with the freedom of the press, the      freedom of the people, the power of an individual, or the freedom of humanity.

Religion and government must remain separate.

·         Democratic government system; government officials are chosen by popular vote, not electoral votes.

·         Every zone of the nation will elect a leader, and he will have a system of officials, and they will also be voted by the people. The main leader of the country will be voted by everyone in the country, and will also have a large system of people to guide him in running the country.

·         Political parties will form as the country gains culture. They are not “official,” but are still existent.

·         The country will have a military, but will not be permitted to attack, only defend.

·         Expansion will occur only when land is up for grabs or if the country purchases it. A vote will be taken to purchase it or not.  Space travel counts as a means of expansion.

·         Instead of death penalty, the country deports criminals, but this only happens for serious crimes. Other crimes will be dealt with in court, and they will be innocent unless proven guilty. If they are guilty, they will be put in penitentiaries for a certain amount of time

Civil Rights/Government and Laws:
- What rights do citizens of your country have?

- How do you make sure these rights are protected?

The government may not interfere with the freedom of the press, the      freedom of the people, the power of an individual, or the freedom of humanity.

Civilians are not allowed to own any weapons. Only government officials or military personnel may carry weapons.

Religion and government must remain separate.

Structure:
- What type of government does your country have?
- How is power divided in your country?

·         Democratic government system; government officials are chosen by popular vote.

·         The nation will be divided into zones. Every zone of the nation will elect a leader, and he will have a system of officials, and they will also be voted by the people. The main leader of the country will be voted by everyone in the country, and will also have a large system of people to guide him in running the country.

Political Parties
- Will your country have political parties? How many? What will their opinions be about your countries Issues (see below)?

·         Political parties will form as the country gains culture. They are not “official,” but are still existent.

The Military
- Will you have a military? If so, how will it be used? If not, why not?

·         Our country will have a military, but will not be permitted to attack, only defend.

Expansion:
- What is your policy on expanding (growing) your country?
- How do you expand your country in terms of territory?

- How do you expand your country in terms of your economy?

·         Expansion will occur only when land is up for grabs or if the country purchases it. A vote will be taken to purchase it or not.  If space travel becomes available, Awesomeland will also attempt to colonize other worlds.

·         Instead of death penalty, the country deports criminals, but this only happens for serious crimes. Other crimes will be dealt with in court, and people will be innocent until proven guilty. If they are guilty, they will be put in penitentiaries for a certain amount of time.

Immigration:

·         Each city in the country will have a population limit, so every city is equal, and can grow with each other at the same rate. When every city reaches the population limit, the limit will officially become greater, and growing will continue.

Education:
- How do you educate your population?

- How do you make sure people are learning?

·         A person must stay in school until they graduate. A person may do schoolwork at their own pace. Once a person has done enough work, they may take the graduation quiz for their grade. If they pass, they graduate from that grade. If they fail, they must start the work for that grade all over again. If a person reaches the age of twenty five and has not graduated school, they are sent into the military.

·         Government sells food, to smaller, local businesses. It also sells electricity, low income housing, and water directly to populace. It will sell these at a high enough price that it makes enough money to go without taxes.

·         Since the government distributes food and water directly to the people through businesses, unemployed people will receive the right amount of food and water, depending on how many people live in the family, and the age they are at. In exchange, they will be put to work according to their skills.

·         People are allowed to own their own businesses.

·         Cigarettes are banned along with other drugs.

·         Since people will be provided with all of the necessities to live if they are in poverty, homeless, or in need of assistance, it won’t be a problem at all.

·         The government will maintain bus routes, and to reduce the affects of pollution and inflation, vehicles must all have a standard MPG rating of 40 miles per gallon or greater to be able to be on the streets.

- How do you manage conflict within your country?

- How do you try to make sure people get along in your country?

- How do you manage conflict with other countries?

Issues:
- What problems do you think your new country might face?
