 Reading

Reading is the first of the proverbial "Three Rs": reading, 'riting and 'rithmatic. At Angevine, we pride ourselves on our dynamic reading program, which is led by a full-time literacy coach and fully supported by our dedicated staff.

Our staff provides students with four different reading classes: a beginning reading class tailored for English as a second language (ESL) students; a literacy lab for students in all grade levels; a literature program; and an advanced literature program. However, students are not locked into one class or the other. As student placement is fluid and all of the reading classes are offered during each period, students can easily move from one class to another, regardless of grade level. Student placement in reading classes and reading class instruction are determined by assessment data. Many students are assessed on a weekly basis to determine which reading class is suitable for their needs.
