Orchestra
Enrollment is open to any student with prior experience on an orchestral stringed instrument or by permission from the instructor. Instruments included in the ensemble are violin, viola, cello and bass. Repertoire studied in class ranges from early Baroque to contemporary music. Students will perform in several public performances each year. Performances may range from formal concerts to impromptu ensembles as needed for events such as Back-To-School Night. Music theory and history are also integrated into daily instruction to meet the Boulder Valley School District Music Content Standards. Participation in outside ensembles, such as youth symphonies, is highly encouraged. Private lessons are also highly encouraged. Both of these outside activities serve to improve the individual player beyond what is achievable in the classroom and to enrich the in-school ensemble experience.
Orchestra 1 N—24 This is a 6th grade class. Students alternate meeting days with PE class.
Orchestra 2 N—25 and Orchestra 3 N—26: Both of these classes meet together to form the 7/8 Grade Orchestra.
