Mariachi
This is a new program for BVSD and Angevine is the only middle school in the district offering this course. Enrollment is open to any student at Angevine Middle School. Students enrolled in Mariachi Ensemble perform music from the Mariachi repertoire and learn to play traditional Mariachi instruments including the violin, trumpet, guitar, vihuela and guitarrón as well as sing. Students will perform in several public performances each year. Performances may range from formal concerts to impromptu ensembles as needed for events such as Back-To-School Night. Music theory and history are also integrated into daily instruction to meet the Boulder Valley School District Music Content Standards. Along with this, the study of Mariachi history and culture, the Mexican culture and the Spanish language are taught to better understand the music of the Mariachi.
