Angevine is proud to maintain a highly innovative literacy program, one that is unique in the BVSD. Our advanced literacy program is structured as follows:
- ALL students take both a reading and a writing class, every other day for 90 minutes in place of the usual Language Arts class
- Spelling and grammar instruction are embedded in the structure of our Writer's Workshop
- Reading instruction is highly differentiated—students are placed in classes based on their reading scores
- Students with significant reading needs are placed in the Literacy Lab, which is staffed by a team of four teachers with expertise in reading instruction, learning disabilities, and/or second language acquisition.
