Language Arts
Angevine is notable for the diversity of courses that we offer within our Language Arts Department, including dual English-Spanish classes, English as a Second Language, Advanced level classes, and Publication. All of our courses are structured to meet the unique developmental needs of young adolescents and to prepare them for a demanding, college preparatory high school curriculum. Our teachers continuously strive to meet the needs of each student and to inform their instruction by regularly analyzing ongoing formal and informal assessments. Students will read a number of literary works, including novels, short stories, poetry, and drama. They will write a variety of essays, opinion papers, critical responses to literature, narratives, and poetry. Oral communication will be stressed through speeches, presentations, skits, panels, debates, and regular group discussion. All grade levels will engage in the study of vocabulary, standard usage, and grammar.
