Visual Arts Program
Angevine believes in the importance of the arts in schools. In the Angevine Visual Arts Program, students expand their understanding and appreciation of art by experimenting with materials, concepts and multicultural influences. Our students acquire a number of benefits that enhance their overall learning experiences by:

  • Improving their ability to express intimate thoughts and feelings and communicate them to other people in a creative fashion
  • Increasing their ability to generate ideas and improving their imaginations
  • Studying others' artwork to increase their language capacity and broaden their thinking abilities
  • Acquiring additional intellectual support as they go through life changes and experience rapid intellectual and physical growth
  • Developing in areas such as self-concept, psychomotor skills, concept organization, creative problem solving, teamwork and learning how to take care of materials and tools
  • Realizing the value of art as a lifelong means of enhancing their personal and community lives.

Consumer and Family Studies
In our Consumer and Family Studies program, students immerse themselves in practical arts that enable them to flourish as responsible citizens. The program provides students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes that they will need to make healthy and rational decisions on health and nutrition, relationships and consumer matters. Working individually and in cooperative learning groups, students explore, experiment and solve problems related to many different situations. As a result, students develop the self-confidence and motor and organizational skills that they need to tackle common life challenges.

Computer Science
In the 21st century, computer education remains an essential element of a comprehensive middle school education. The Angevine Computer Science Education program empowers students with the technical skills that they need to operate computers and use computers for multiple disciplines.

All of our computer science courses show how logical progression creates logical output. Accordingly, students must develop their organizational skills to advance in the classes. Also, computer technology advances quickly, and our program champions cooperative and individual projects and improves students' small-motor skills, creative problem solving and ability to use and maintain computer equipment. However, as each student starts and finishes each class with a different level of skill, Angevine is determined to address all of its students' individual needs.

In all of the computer science courses, students create original works of learning.

Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology (SMET)
People often refer to the middle school years as "The Wonder Years," because students in this particular age bracket go through extensive physical, emotional and intellectual changes as they attempt to find their places in the world. It is during these crucial years of development that students develop interest, knowledge, skills and attitudes about different academic subjects.

What better time to turn kids on to science, mathematics, engineering and technology? The Angevine Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology (SMET) program provides students with hands-on activities and design challenges that teach:

  • Effective teamwork
  • Social collaboration
  • Creative problem solving
  • Strategic decision making
  • Critical thinking.

While increasing their mastery of product design processes, students can improve their self-efficacy levels as they create, test and improve their product designs. Success in our SMET program often overflows to other disciplines; our preliminary studies conclude that our students who excel in the SMET program often continue on to higher-level science, mathematics and engineering classes in high school, opening the doors of opportunity to a number of valuable career opportunities.

Angevine currently offers the following courses through its SMET program:

  • Applied Technology Exploratory
  • Applied Technology
  • Gateway to Technology (GTT)
  • Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement (MESA).
