Destination ImagiNation (DI)
DI is a program that can help students tap into their multiple intelligences and develop creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Once a volunteer parent coach/manager commits to running a team of 2 to 7 students, the school will pay the membership fee to Destination ImagiNation, Inc., which will then send materials and challenges to the team. There are 2 types of challenges: (1) The Central Team Challenge, which involves structural, technical, or theatrical oriented Challenges and takes several months to solve, and (2) Improvisational Instant Challenges, which require students to think quickly and creatively with only minutes to prepare solutions. At tournament time (usually beginning in February), each team’s score reflects its Central Team Challenge performance plus its response to an Instant Challenge. See www.IDODI.org for more information.
