Our Community Supporters
Robin and Kevin Luff
The parents of two Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) students, Robin, a past board member of Impact on Education, a member of the board of trustees of the Community Foundation, and the board of Summit Charter Middle School, and her husband, Kevin, an executive at Hewlett Packard and current board member of the Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA) are longtime supporters of public education in Boulder Valley. Robin and Kevin emphasize three keys to their support of improved school food. They are 1) it only seems sensible that BVSD would have a leading edge school food program, 2) BVSD has some of the smartest students in the nation...we should also have the healthiest, from home to school, and 3) our family philanthropy tries to reach all areas of education, from after-school tutoring, to technology, to hands-on science programs to programs focusing on the achievement gap. This adds another layer to our mission. The School Food Project would like to recognize and thank Robin and Kevin Luff for their generous support of our project.
Whole Foods Market
Founded in 1980 in Austin, Texas, Whole Foods Market (www.wholefoodsmarket.com), a leader in the natural and organic foods industry and America’s first national certified organic grocer, was named “America’s Healthiest Grocery Store” in 2008 by Health magazine. The Whole Foods Market motto, “Whole Foods, Whole People, Whole Planet”™ captures the company’s mission to find success in customer satisfaction and wellness, employee excellence and happiness, enhanced shareholder value, community support and environmental improvement. The School Food Project would like to recognize and thank Whole Foods for their support of our project.
Vermilion
Vermilion is a graphic and web communications firm that has been working for 25 years with Boulder businesses and non-profits, to build coherent design and brand strategies. By integrating identity, web, advertising, and packaging, they strive for a consistent, distinctive, and meaningful brand platform. As a result of working in the Boulder community, they have become increasingly involved with the natural products industry, and are working to lessen their environmental footprint by using 100 percent wind-powered energy. The School Food Project would like to recognize and thank Vermilion for the logo and website design.
Holland and Hart
Holland and Hart is the largest law firm in the Mountain West, with over 400 lawyers in 15 offices in seven states. They deliver integrated legal solutions to regional, national, and international clients, from emerging businesses to Fortune 500 companies. The School Food Project would like to recognize and thank Holland and Hart's Boulder office for sponsoring the Harvest Bars in BVSD schools during the 2008/09 school year.
The Kitchen
Opened in April of 2004, The Kitchen is a community bistro located in historic downtown Boulder. Their commitment to sourcing local and quality ingredients helps to achieve a sustainable and "connected" restaurant. They make conscientious decisions about every aspect of their operations, from the hand towels in the bathroom to the wind-power generated electricity they use. They recycle and reuse nearly 100 percent of their "discards," including composting their food waste. The Kitchen has been a strong supporter of the School Food Project hosting fundraisers, providing volunteers, and delivering instructional time to students and food for our school events.
Our Community Partners
Growe Foundation
The Growe Foundation (www.growefoundation.org) educates children about eating and the environment. We provide experiential learning opportunities for children, their families and communities around healthier choices for their body and planet. Through a community outreach approach the Growe Foundation supports interactive programming that ignites our inquisitive nature and allows us to reach an understanding of the interconnectedness of our planet. Through our Garden to Table program we are able to provide elementary schools with the resources and support to build school gardens and create hands on learning opportunities that tie into grade based curriculum.
