Our Founding Families
Robin and Kevin Luff Family
The parents of two Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) students, Robin, a past board member of Impact on Education, a member of the board of trustees of the Community Foundation, and the board of Summit Charter Middle School, and her husband, Kevin, an executive at Hewlett Packard and current board member of the Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA), are longtime supporters of public education in Boulder Valley. Robin and Kevin emphasize three keys to their support of improved school food. They are 1) it only seems sensible that BVSD would have a leading edge school food program, 2) BVSD has some of the smartest students in the nation...we should also have the healthiest, from home to school, and 3) our family philanthropy tries to reach all areas of education, from after-school tutoring, to technology, to hands-on science programs to programs focusing on the achievement gap. This adds another layer to our mission. The School Food Project would like to recognize and thank Robin and Kevin Luff for their generous support of our project.

The School Food Project is an incredible program that will continue to grow with our community and become a powerful component of our overarching approach in supporting the health and wellbeing of our students.

Impact on Education
As an organization focused on educational excellence, equity and innovation in Boulder Valley School District, Impact on Education understands the critical link between healthy food and student learning and is proud to be part of this important initiative.
Rob and Renee Israel, Co-Founders, Doc Popcorn Giving children real food plays a huge role in creating a healthier society. We firmly believe if a program like School Food Project could become a nationwide effort, it would be the biggest step toward solving America's Health Care crises than any policy coming out of Washington.

The Kitchen
Opened in April of 2004, The Kitchen is a community bistro located in historic downtown Boulder. Their commitment to sourcing local and quality ingredients helps to achieve a sustainable and "connected" restaurant. They make conscientious decisions about every aspect of their operations, from the hand towels in the bathroom to the wind-power generated electricity they use. They recycle and reuse nearly 100 percent of their "discards," including composting their food waste. The Kitchen has been a strong supporter of the School Food Project hosting fundraisers, providing volunteers, and delivering instructional time to students and food for our school events.

The Platt Family We recognize the significant impact that eating healthy food has on a child's well being and academic performance. To that end, we are honored to be a part of and support this growing movement in BVSD and eagerly anticipate its contagiousness nationwide.

We are very happy to be a part of The School Food Project's Impact On Nutrition. We believe in the blatantly obvious truth that our children’s health is immediately and directly related to the quality of their food. In turn, this affects their ability to learn, their long term physical well being, and their overall quality of life. America’s current health care crisis is the tragic result of our dismal eating habits. Americans need to improve the nutritional quality of their meals. The food in our school lunchrooms is a great place to start!

Our Community Partners
Growe Foundation
The Growe Foundation (www.growefoundation.org) educates children about eating and the environment. We provide experiential learning opportunities for children, their families and communities around healthier choices for their body and planet. Through a community outreach approach the Growe Foundation supports interactive programming that ignites our inquisitive nature and allows us to reach an understanding of the interconnectedness of our planet. Through our Garden to Table program we are able to provide elementary schools with the resources and support to build school gardens and create hands on learning opportunities that tie into grade based curriculum.
