A Program of the BVSD Special Education Office

The Parent Professional Partnership (PPP) is a support and resource organization in the department of Special Education, for all families who have a child with a disability. When a school-age child is first identified as having a disability (no matter how mild), the new journey the parents must make is often confusing and frightening. The PPP is here to help new families navigate the special education system as well as continuing to help support families already in the system.

One of the PPP's goals is to empower parents with information and to provide emotional support as they go through the "system" of Special Education. This is being accomplished through parent trainings, one-to-one support, a lending library, the Special Edition Newsletter, the Parents as Mentors(PAM) Program and the extensive listing of Web resources.

The Parents as Mentors program has experienced, trained parents in a number of BVSD schools. Their role is to support families navigating the special education system. For more information click on the link on the left for a full explanation and to find out if your school already has mentors in place along with contact information.

The Special Education Events Calendar at the left lists many local and regional parent-training opportunities.

One-To-One Support Resource Information can be obtained by contacting Anna Stewart via this link or call: 303 245-5918.
