How to Apply, Hiring, and The Interview Process

Where do I begin?

Here's a step-by-step checklist to guide you through this process...

PIE Checklist for 2008-09

Want An Application?

You may fill out the following application within your browser screen, but you cannot save the completed file to disk or email it. You will need to print out the completed document and return it by hand or mail...

PIE Application

How do I apply to the program?

Two (2) applications must be completed:

  • An application for employment in any or all participating district(s)
  • An application to graduate school at CU/Boulder.

The district hiring process is independent from acceptance to graduate school and is done entirely by the district process, not the university.

Application guidelines follow...

For Boulder Valley Schools:

  • Complete a regular district teaching application and the additional one-page PIE application (see link above).

Applications can be mailed to Becky McClure, Human Services Director, Boulder Valley Schools, 6500 Arapahoe, Boulder, CO 80301. You may call (303) 447-5259 to request an application and notify the district of your interest in becoming a PIE applicant. The district will screen applicants and identify a pool of candidates to be recommended to principals for interviews.

  • For BVSD PIE program information, please use the contact information at the bottom of this page.

What is the hiring/interviewing process?

Hiring for the fall generally begins in the spring and continues throughout the summer until the end of August with each district following different timelines as positions are available. Availability and number of positions vary each year across the districts and are highly dependent on projected budgets and first year openings. Districts, not the university, make all final hiring decisions. Even if you are still waiting for district interviews, you should submit your CU graduate school application (see next sections) to ensure processing for fall admission.
