BVSD Fleet Service Technician Pete Stewart placed first in the Colorado State Technician’s Competition held June 23 in Pueblo, CO. This is the sixth time BVSD has won the competition in the 11 years it has been held by the Colorado State Pupil Transportation Association (CSPTA).
“We are proud of Pete for his great performance at this event and excellent work throughout the year,” said Les Hornbaker, Lead Technician in BVSD’s Transportation Department. “He represented our department well.”
Stewart had the best overall score in the five-station competition of all the 26 competitors from school districts around the state. His state championship qualifies Stewart for the “America’s Best” national competition that will take place in Tulsa, OK, Sept. 10-12.
That annual competition is hosted by the National Association of Pupil Transportation and its affiliate, the National School Bus Inspection Council, as a nationwide search to find “America’s Best” School Bus Technicians and Inspectors
The America’s Best competition has three goals:
- to promote continuing education and training for school bus technicians and inspectors;
- to provide long overdue and well deserved national recognition for these vital members of the school bus safety team; and
- to provide scholarship opportunities for participating technicians and inspectors.
