News Release Details BOULDER – Colorado Commissioner of Education Robert K. Hammond notified BVSD Superintendent Bruce Messinger yesterday (2/6) that the district has three more John Irwin award-winning schools than originally announced by the Colorado Department of Education in December.
Superintendent Messinger congratulates the middle levels of both Eldorado K-8 and Horizons K-8 for their belated 2011 John Irwin awards, as well as the high school level of Peak to Peak Charter School, which also received a John Irwin award.
This brings the total number of 2011 John Irwin awards received by BVSD schools to 17.
John Irwin awards are awarded to schools that
“exceed” expectations on the three-year school performance framework’s
indicator related to academic achievement and that “meet or exceed”
expectations on the indicator related to academic growth gaps. These
schools demonstrate the highest levels of achievement not just for some
students but also adequate performance across all student groups. For
high schools, the schools also “meet or exceed” graduation expectations.
