Four teams from BVSD’s high school catering classes will compete in an Iron Chef style competition Wednesday, May 4, to win money for their classes and a spot on the 2011-2012 school food menu.
The theme this year is “pasta-less casseroles.” Teams must create a dish that is not only delicious, but also meets the USDA guidelines, is healthy, and stays at or under the $1.20/plate price allocation.
It’s a challenge, but we know from last year’s contest that some great food will be presented to our judges!
This year, along with managers from BVSD Nutrition Services, four local food celebrities will also be joining us to help judge:
-
Chef Bradford Heap of the famed SALT Bistro and Colterra
-
Chef Hosea Rosenberg, winner of Top Chef Season 5 and chef/owner of Jax on Pearl Street
-
Two local Chipotle chef/restaurateurs
Media are welcome!
The competition will take place 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Broomfield High School
(1 Eagle Way, Broomfield, CO 80020). We are asking the judges to arrive around 11 a.m.
