The 2011 International Baccalaureate Diploma classes at Centaurus and Fairview high schools celebrated 55 students total who received the highly respected IB Diploma – 18 students at Centaurus and 37 at Fairview. Centaurus in Lafayette began its IB program in 2006 and Fairview in Boulder began its program in 1995. In addition to these two high schools, two elementary schools in BVSD also have IB programs – Whittier International in Boulder and Alicia Sanchez International in Lafayette.

At Centaurus, the pass rate represented 90 percent of the students who were in the IB Diploma program for two years. The world average pass rate is 80 percent. Fairview’s pass rate was 100 percent in the 2011 exams. Fairview students exceeded world averages in 16 subject areas and Centaurus students exceeded world averages in eight subject areas.

In total, 191 IB exams were taken in May 2011 by Centaurus students and 563 exams were taken by Fairview students.
