As part of the One Book, One Boulder County community reading project, Monarch High School hosted an event with author Homer Hickam on Friday, April 18. Hickam has written several books, but he came to speak about his best known title, "Rocket Boys," upon which the movie "October Skies" was based. He presented at two sessions at the high school’s library, one for high school creative writing classes and one for seventh graders from Monarch K-8 who had studied the novel for their science and English classes.
