With a Janus Grant, art students of BVSD's Emerald Elementary School participated in the Student Buying Program at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival for the third consecutive year.

Digital Oil Artist Tanya Doskova, originally from Bulgaria, embraced the students and their teacher, Jenny Wise Weich, while offering a huge discount on her renowned work to support living artist’s surrealist, meaningful artwork to live in Emerald Elementary School permanently.

Students studied the artists before attending the July 2011 festival and worked with a budget of $500 to purchase art that aligned with school values such as Focus, Integrity, Respect, and Empathy.

The artwork shown here, according to Doskova, shows how hard we work to struggle and balance, when in fact, we often have more support than we know.
