Boulder High's Japanese language students did it again. Surpassing their excellent performance at last year's Japan Bowl, they won first place in the level 3 and level 4 competitions at the 2008 Japan Cup. They also won second place in level 4.
“It was a highly competitive event,” said Mike Kleinkopf, Japanese teacher at Boulder High. “My students did a great job!”
Teams from the Denver metro area and Colorado Springs competed on April 5 at the University of Denver. The students were tested on their knowledge of Japanese language, including proverbs and kanji (Chinese characters) as well as Japanese culture.
The Boulder High students who won were:
First Place - Level 3 Team: Max Queripel, Mason Sklar, Joe Burns
First Place – Level 4 Team: Cord Drake, Laurisa Deacon, Rachel Baum
Second Place – Level 4 Team: Gabby Celani, Megan Bettenhausen, Erin Hubbard
