To substitute teach within BVSD you must be on file as a substitute teacher. Remember, the BVSD substitute application is identical to the BVSD licensed teacher application, so please indicate in the appropriate area of the application that you are applying to be a substitute.

All substitute teachers in the Boulder Valley School District must hold a current Colorado teaching license or a Colorado Substitute Authorization of three or five years, issued by the Colorado Department of Education, and a bachelor's degree. The rate of pay for the current school year is $94.50 per day, and $55.00 per half day.

If you wish to apply for a regular contracted teaching position, and in the interim also wish to be considered for substitute teaching, you can apply for both a regular licensed position and a substitute position at the same time.
