Greening Up Our Transportation

Thanks to Steve Hoban and the Operations Department, BVSD is now the proud owner of our first hybrid vehicle. The vehicle is a 2008 Ford Focus and will be used for security purposes.

In other green transportation news, Landon Hilliard, Mike Pedersen and Karen Bernson worked together to bring the Eco Pass program to Education Center employees. Interested participants pay a small fee and receive a bus pass for the fall semester, giving them hassle-free access to all RTD busses.

Thanks to the 75 employees (out of 400 eligible employees) who are participating in this program, a criterion for making the Eco Pass program possible. Additionally, Mary Parrish and David Tomashek secured Eco Passes for the Arapahoe Campus and its 110 employees which includes the IT Department. A big thanks to all of you for your helped in making this happen!

TIP: When traveling to meetings and schools, carpool when possible. Even better, take the bus, bike or walk. Under the “get directions” section on Googlemaps you can select directions “by car” or “by public transit." Use the latter for comparison, and consider using public transportation to get to your destination.
