Eco-Schools USAThis is an international program with resources for support based in Boulder. The program offers pathways to success through a seven-step process which supports student achievement and engagement and resource conservation. After a school has registered and implemented each step, the school receives an Eco-Schools award. Registration is free and the program includes free resources and online training for teachers. Energy KidsBecome an Energy Kid! Learn about what energy is, where it comes from, and how we use it. Test your new knowledge with one of the many online games and activities. Determine your energy footprint using the Energy Calculator. There is also a section of lesson plans for teachers. Energy StarEnergy Star’s interactive website allows younger students to explore the world of energy production and use. Kids learn about ways in which they can save energy at home and become more energy literate. There is also a section for parents and teachers, complete with lesson plans and games. Energy Star for K12 School DistrictsOffering tips on "What You Can Do" and "Energy Star Success Stories," this site offers many options for making a commitment to your students as well as your environment. Engines OffDid you know that 1 minute of idling produces more carbon monoxide than does smoking three packs of cigarettes? Learn about the impacts idling has on our fuel consumption and our air quality and then get involved by starting an anti-idling campaign at your school. Facing the FutureFacing the Future examines the importance of having a global perspective when tackling issues, such as sustainability. The Global Issues Tours offer information and resources about many global challenges at a level appropriate for high school students. Free curriculum downloads and other resources for educators and administrators are also available. Garden to TableGarden to Table helps elementary school students understand the connections between humans and the environment, and teaches them to make healthy, sustainable lifestyle choices. Ten BVSD elementary schools are currently participating in the Garden to Table Program. The website provides sample lesson plans for Grades K-5 that integrate the Garden to Table Program goals into the core curriculum. GristGrist.org is an online news site that will keep you up-to-date on all things sustainability, from politics to sports to fashion. The humorous titles and witty writers keep you feeling down about the future our planet faces. Be sure to check out the “Follow a Drop of Water” series, sponsored by New Belgium Brewing Co. The Measuring Change ToolThe Measuring Change Tool provides several teacher guides for activities related to zero waste, energy, water usage and living landscapes. Students are asked to collect various sets of data, and to then draw conclusions based on the results. Data can then be uploaded to the website and comprehensive reports will be returned tracking progress over time. Six LinksSix Links divides the world’s environmental problems into six components (or links): Transportation, Making Energy, Using Energy, Basic Needs, Nature and Climate Change. The site goes through the “need to know” facts about each of these links, and then provides a checklist for helping you make a difference. The social networking component allows you to connect and share ideas with other sustainably-minded individuals from around the world. Sustainable SchoolsSustainable Schools is a pilot program in Australia in which schools committed to developing new approaches to school-wide sustainability. Students in these schools learn how they can shape their communities through hands-on learning experiences. The website outlines keys to success, core themes for sustainability in the classroom, and case studies. U.S. Department of EnergyThis U.S. Department of Energy website provides lesson plans on a variety of energy related topics for K-12 teachers. You can search for educational material by keyword, specific topic or grade level.

The Alliance for Climate Education (ACE)A non-profit organization whose mission is to educate high school students on the science behind climate change and inspire them to take action to curb the causes of global warming. We offer FREE multimedia assemblies and help students take action through carbon-reducing projects in their schools and communities.

Boulder Community Computers (BoCoCo)A non-profit that bridges the digital divide and prevents electronic waste in the Boulder area through community education and computer refurbishments. All classes and computer equipment are able to be bartered or earned through work trade.

They sell gently used clothing so that Boulder locals can be fashionable without breaking the bank, can keep their unwanted clothing out of landfills and can reduce dependence on overseas clothing production. The second part offers classes in sewing, design and jewelry making so that people can hone their skills to repair, alter and design their own clothing and accessories.

Eco-CycleEco-Cycle's School Recycling and Environmental Education Program provides recycling collection services, education and feedback to schools in BVSD. Keep it Clean Partnership (KICP)A partnership of Colorado communities in the Boulder and St. Vrain watersheds, and includes Boulder County; the cities of Boulder, Longmont and Louisville; and the towns of Erie and Superior. The KICP offers water education programs, community service projects, and is present at community events with outreach materials for the public. This includes programs offered in classrooms, as field activities, or speaker programs for groups.

University of Colorado's Environmental CenterCU's Environmental Center is the nation's largest and most accomplished student-led center of its kind. The center can help with communicating sustainability, running a zero waste event, changing behavior, working with volunteers, organizing events and conferences.
