Project Status

Contruction Update

Activity that has occurred this period:

Poured foundation for new addition; installed utilities; some interior demolition for mechanical and electrical upgrades and fire sprinkler installation.

Activity planned for next period:

Exterior work on the new addition will be completed over the summer; mechanical and electrical upgrades and fire sprinkler installation will be completed over the summer; play pit will be relocated.

On schedule to complete July 2009.

Scope of Work
Facility Condition Assessment (FCA): Planned implementation (FCA):
  • HVAC upgrades
  • Replace damaged exhaust fans, H&V system in 1953 addition, heaters in gym, unit ventilators
  • Boiler replacement
  • Replace boiler
  • Electrical service and distribution improvements
  • Replace electrical service and branch wiring. Add surge protection
  • Fire alarm, intercom and clock systems improvements
  • Replace master clock system and intercom. Add exit lights and upgrade fire alarm to meet code.
  • Interior finishes upgraded (i.e. ceiling tiles, carpet, wall finishes, etc.)
  • Remodel existing IMC to accommodate new classrooms, Renovate and expand cafeteria and administration, remodel and expand kindergarten
  • Roof replacement and repairs
  • Replace failing roof decks
  • Restroom renovations including ADA accessibility where required
  • Renovate restrooms in Area A
  • Site irrigation system improvements
  • Scope to be defined by Master Plan/Operations
  • Interior signage program
  • Install ADA approved signage

Program Compatibility Assessment (PCA): Planned implementation (PCA):
  • Improvements to the IMC and Special Education, and art room
  • Relocate IMC to new addition, renovate 3rd grade classrooms to special education, relocate art room to the existing IMC. 
  • New kindergarten suites

  • As part of interior remodel and relocation of classrooms

Information Technology (IT): Planned implementation (IT):
  • Upgrade WAN to provide capacity to support applications with high bandwidth demands
  • Extend WAN to building, upgrade head end equipment. 
  • Upgrade LANs to provide reliable and responsive access to data, research, and information
  • Upgrade existing LAN distribution.
  • Implement VoIP to enhance communications capabilities and reduce cost
  • Install new VoIP telecommunications system.
