School Improvement Goals 2008-09
SMART Goal for Equity:
By the spring of 2011, 60% of students who are not at grade level in reading will be at grade level or make more than a year’s growth in a year’s time by spring 2009 as measured by grade level appropriate assessments such as Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA-2), Qualitative Reading Inventory (QRI), writing assessments, phonemic awareness assessment, Concepts About Print (CAP), word identification, observations or CSAP.
SMART Goal for Achievement:
By spring 2009, all students in grades 3-5 at Foothill Elementary will increase their CSAP scores by at least 3 weighted index points in writing from 104 to 107.
The percentage of students in K-5 scoring proficient or advanced on the Foothill writing assessment will increase from our baseline of 58% to 68% as measured by the Fireside Rubric.
SMART Goal for Climate:
We will develop a safe and positive learning environment and increase positive interactions between adults & students, adults & adults, and students & students as measured by questions 13, 17, 19, 35 and 37 on the Spring 2010, climate survey.

SMART Goal for School Operations:
By spring of 2009. we will decrease disruption to our learning environment and increase the safety of students in the hallways by the end of the school year. We will create an informal survey for 2nd – 5th grade to be administered in the fall for baseline data and repeat the survey in the spring to measure our results.
