Welcome to Douglass Elementary School

Douglass has a longstanding reputation as a neighborhood school, offering a challenging academic program, high–quality instruction in the arts, and a welcoming and embracing school climate. Douglass has received many awards, including the Colorado Department of Education’s “school of excellence” for high academic achievement and the “creative ticket school of excellence” award for exemplary arts programs. Douglass also has been recognized by the School Mediation Project for its strong character education program. Parent volunteerism is high, and the staff is highly committed to meeting the needs of all children.

 Spread holiday cheer and help our community by picking a mitten off the bulletin board in the front hallway!  Each mitten has printed on it a toy or gift item from the wish list of a child.  Just pick a mitten, go shopping and return your wrapped item with the mitten to the office by Monday, December 14th.  Pick a mitten next time you sign in at the office! New this year!  We are accepting online donations!  These donations will be used to purchase much needed clothing items for these students.  Want to help, but short on time?  Just go online:  http://tinyurl.com/ygja96n   Donations in any amount are welcome!

Caught Being Good”

Congratulations to the following students who were “Caught Being Good”.  Their names were drawn in the monthly drawing from the Dolphin Slips bowl by Mr. Wolfed. Each student received a gift certificate to Grand Rabbits Toy Store.

New BVSD Calendars Now Available

BVSD’s school calendars for the next two years were approved by the Board of Education on Jan. 27. Electronic copies of both calendars are available on the website at http://bvsd.org/calendar/Pages/default.aspx (links are in the left index). Schools will be provided with copies of next year’s calendar printed on cardstock for all of their student households and staff members in mid-March.
