CSAP
It’s CSAP time! Students in 3rd-5th grade will be participating in CSAP testing this month. Teachers and students have been working VERY HARD in their CSAP practice and prep. The students will all be given special colorful "smart" pencils that read Crush CSAP. Attendance on testing days is crucial. Students who arrive late to school and arrive after the test has started will need to sit out until the testing session is completed. Most testing sessions last 1-1 ½ hours.
Support our School
Several local companies sponsor school support programs where portions of your purchases are donated to our school. If you shop at Grand Rabbits or Play Fair Toys be sure to mention our school in order to donate $!! Also, don’t forget to continue clipping the Boxtops for Education. Please put them in the box outside Ms. Kristen’s kindergarten classroom. We receive donations from them, too!

Impact on Education Awards
On December 9, Impact on Education announced its 2010 Impact Award Winners for Boulder Valley schools, and Columbine's Kindergarten teacher Kristen Elder-Rubino was one of the five winners. Third-grade teacher Sue Parsons was also one of the 10 finalists.
The Impact Awards program "recognizes individuals in the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) who have an extraordinary impact on student learning through exceptional: teaching skills, job dedication, volunteering, and/or leadership." Impact on Education is a community partnership to raise support for public education in Boulder Valley, focusing on teacher excellence; science, technology and math; and "at-risk" students.
Kristen will be honored at an Impact on Education recognition dinner on February 11. She also receives a $500 personal award and a $1,500 award for Columbine. Congratulations to both Kristen and Sue!
