One of the many unique features about the Columbine approach to teaching is that we use looping. Looping is when a teacher and class stay together for multiple years. Columbine students loop in 1st/2nd grades and 4th/5th grades. This is beneficial for many reasons. First, it allows classes to "hit the ground running" in their second year because teachers don't have to spend time assessing and getting to know students. It also allows teachers to form stronger relationships with the parents and students. Students benefit because they don't have the extra stress of wondering what to expect or getting used to a new rountine. Finally, everyone benefits from the strong sense of community that takes place in a looped class. Below is a list of our looping teams.
